Summer Camp: Day One | Cut the power!

August 16th, 2008

So… 30 min before Tim and the guys were gonna kick off not only the service, but also the camp, with some rocktastic worship, the power went out.  Ya… bummer.  So we had to improvise.  We had to get 550 students to move from the indoor chapel and out into the outdoor amphitheater.  We had no sound system.  No lights.  We did the whole service with cars providing lights.  Tim and Dave whipped out their acoustic guitars and led 550 students in a very rockin’ time.  When Pastor Steve (this year’s speaker) was praying to wrap the night up, the power came back on.  It was a pretty amazing thing to be at.

We then had late night with the band playing a few rockin’ songs, and Entourage keepin’ it funny.  Enjoy the pics.

Summer Camp: Day One | We’re Here…

August 16th, 2008

So, we arrived safe and sound at Pinecrest.  We had to wait to get our rooms.  The girls were lucky enough to stay in the Pavilion above the cafeteria.  Us guys on the other hand, we had the great privilege of staying in… THE BUNKHOUSE (Duh duh duuhhhh!).  Pray, yes pray, that you never have to stay in the cesspool of stank and menness that is… THE BUNKHOUSE (Duh duh duuhhhh!).

Bike Ride Baby!!!

August 1st, 2008

So today, a group of us rode our bikes down the river to Seal Beach.  On the way, Chris decided it would be a splendid idea to ride down the riverbed slope, straight into a wall.  Which he did.  Fun times.

When we got to Main St, we went to Sweet Jill’s.  It’s this bomb little bakery with the most ginormous cinnamon buns… Goodness!  Colin and Pastor Matt ended up going to Nick’s for some of the best breakfast burritos in So Cal… seriously… the best.

After we got all full and fat on buns and burritos, we rode back.  Thanks to all of you who came and made the ride fun.

This is shortly after the crash... Oh Chris :)
